How do you make a 50m public swimming pool in a regional Queensland town stand out?
Put a roof on it and hang 3 metre diameter tubes from the ceiling, provide a 25m long exposed brick wall and then suspend the concrete pool deck 5 metres above the ground level. All built across a decommissioned land fill site, this was by far one of our most challenging projects.
Challenge
The client and architect didn’t want just a steel framed shed to cover an Olympic sized swimming pool, this was to become off formed concrete columns with an open truss steel framed roof structure interlaid with large format cylindrical tubes to capture and direct light down to the pool.
This project had a challenge at every turn, the materials used, the scale of the structure, the urban plans and impact on the site not to mention the build process and site challenges.

Our sophisticated design software, use of Revit drafting packages and ongoing design devolvement with key stake holders meant that the local community now enjoys a new revitalised urban space.
